The statistic shows that in Latin America about 25% of pets are homeless. They experience malnutrition and physical torture sadly the number of lost and stray animals is continuously growing.
Since this is a severe problem, public policies are working on the subject by creating necessary laws on animal protection.
Not so long ago the city of Babahoyo, Ecuador developed a pilot project of temporary shelters. With design options for cats and dogs created by “Natura Futura Arquitectura.” Located in strategic parts of neighborhood areas.
Shelters which looks like small houses are about 60 square centimeters (9.3 sq. in) — built out of wood with small eaves for ventilation — excellent protection against bad weather conditions. Inside there is a tray for food next to the water.
Babahoyo is an excellent example of how a responsible city learns to live next to animals while providing them home. Without a doubt, the actions of this city will improve the lives of homeless animals.
